BMW (officially Bayerische Motoren Werke AG) is a German company that designs and manufactures automobiles. It was founded in 1917, and has since become one of the best and most successful luxury automobile makers in the entire world. The 6 Series Gran Coupe is BMW’s response to the Audi A7 and Mercedes-Benz CLS. The U.S. line-up includes three different trim levels: the 650i xDrive Gran Coupe, 650i Gran Coupe, and 640i Gran Coupe. The Gran Coupe combines the driving dynamics, designs, and proportions of the 6 Series Coupe with more interior room and four door capability.

Performance

The BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe comes with a turbo 3.0L I6 Engine with 315 horsepower. It can go 0-60 in just 5.4 seconds, and can reach a top speed of 155 miles per hour. It has an 8-speed auto transmission with overdrive and snow/haul/tow mode. The handling is terrific and the car maneuvers and handles just like a smaller, lighter car, without sacrificing speed or power. The 6 Series Gran Coupe cruises effortlessly at well over 100 mph. There are sport+, sport, and comfort modes available through a console-mounted button. Drivers are able to change the suspension settings, transmission behavior, and throttle response, depending on how many people they have in the car or the type of road they are on to help optimize the driving experience for both the driver and passenger.

Interior

The BMW 6-Series line-up covers many different body styles. Inside the 6-Series Gran Coupe, the layout is sport-inflected, but still feels like a richly appointed luxury car, which may come as a surprise to some people. The instrumentation and controls are featured in a very driver-focused layout, and are relatively easy to learn and use. There is a Dakota leather trim on the shift knob, the doors, and the center floor console. There are also rear and front carpeted floor mats to go with theater style rear seating. Both the front bucket seats can be reclined and have adjustable seat height, and can be adjusted 8 different ways in total. If the spare tire is removed and the rear seat is folded down, there is 44.7 cubic feet available for cargo and luggage.

Pros/Cons

The BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe is an extremely fast but smooth ride. Everything inside the car works extremely well. The interior is comfortable and extremely well-crafted, and has exceptional space. It can fit four adults easily, while still allowing plenty of space for cargo. It has a very sleek design and drives like a sports car but feels like a luxury car. It cruises effortlessly at 100 mph, which can be a negative for people who may like to speed. One of the biggest drawbacks to the 6 Series Gran Coupe is the price, as you are going to have to pay at least $80 000 for the vehicle. There have been some complaints about how the car handles expansion strips, mainly because the mapping for the rebound traits of the dampers is not exactly right for this kind of car. There is also reduced rear window visibility because of the design and sleek look of the car.
